Nashville SC announced the signing of midfielder Bryan Acosta on Wednesday.
Acosta comes to Nashville from Real España in his home country of Honduras. The 31-year-old midfielder has played for six clubs during his 11-year professional career, including FC Dallas , Colorado Rapids and Portland Timbers in MLS, and has 70 caps for the Honduras national team.
Acosta's contract with Nashville is for one season with an option for 2026.
"Bryan has outstanding experience in both Major League Soccer and CONCACAF, and his combination of playmaking and ball-winning makes him a valuable addition to our midfield," Nashville SC general manager Mike Jacobs said in a news release.
Acosta came up through Real España's youth system before beginning his professional career with the club in 2013. He scored 19 goals in 133 appearances before moving to Spanish side Tenerife in 2017.
In 2019, Acosta signed with FC Dallas as a designated player. He appeared in 60 matches, starting 49, and totaled two goals and five assists over three seasons. Acosta then moved to Colorado in 2022, playing in 40 games (35 starts) for the Rapids and contributing four assists before being traded to Portland in August 2023. He started 13 of 14 games he played for the Timbers with one assist.
Acosta returned to Real España this season after a short stint with Turkish club Gaziantep. He has one goal in 15 games during this season's Liga Nacional.
As an international, Acosta has two goals in 70 appearances for Honduras and represented his nation at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. He served as the Catrachos' captain and led them to the bronze medal match, which they lost to Nigeria .
Acosta should provide extensive experience and depth for a heavily revamped Nashville midfield. After missing the playoffs in 2024, NSC parted with mainstays Aníbal Godoy , Sean Davis, Brian Anunga and Dru Yearwood and brought in Gastón Brugman, this season's MLS Cup MVP with the LA Galaxy , and Edvard Tagseth .
