Former Brooklyn Nets and Boston Celtics and, oh yeah, Cleveland Cavs guard Kyrie Irving is feeling a bit nostalgic for the good ol' day s, according to multiple reports.
You know, sort of like the days when he, Kevin Love and his good buddy LeBron James went to three consecutive NBA Finals together before he "allegedly" forced his way out of Cleveland.
Shams Charnia had the scoop earlier Monday that Irving has asked James if he'd be amenable to being traded to Dallas"
But why would James? Is he that magnanimous? Can he forgive and forget Irving who, in the opinion of many, wrecked what was the golden age of NBA basketball in Cleveland given the players' respective ages then could have led to more than one championship?
Irving hasn't been able to lift a team to NBA champion status all by his lonesome and couldn't even with Kevin Durant on his wing.
James has a contract with the Lakers that pays him $46.9 million next season, according to reports, and Irving is sniffing around another huge payday himself. Surely with along with All-Star Luka Doncic , a couple of guys would have to take a financial haircut. Then there's the fact the Lakers are a storied if not the storied franchise in the NBA.
Let's talk post-basketball life, too. James' future lies in the world of entertainment, it would seem given his production company and forays into film and television production.
You need family considerations? Bronny James committed to play basketball for the USC Trojans and while LeBron James' Lakers schedule will likely prohibit regular attendance at Trojans games, some is better than none.
Last I checked, USC is in James' backyard.
Is this possible. Yeah, sure, I guess. But it would be sad to see given it could have been lasted here for more years and how many more championships.
