WKYC announced that Nick Camino, who has been at the NBC affiliate since 2019, will assume duties as main sports anchor, stepping in for Jim Donovan who retired in June.
Nick will cover sports on the news at 4, 5, 7 and 11 p.m. newscasts. He will be a busy man as he also continues to host the 11:30 p.m. Sports Tonight on Sundays.
Camino, a Cleveland State graduate who is married with three children, began his career working for WTAM (1100 A.M.), which included pre-and-post game shows covering the Browns, Cavs and Guardians. His work there included his own talk show.
His work over the years, which includes a role as a full-time reporter and anchor at WKYC, followed the Browns, Guardians, and Cleveland Cavaliers.
"Watching Jim Donovan deliver the latest in sports every night was the highlight of many evenings for us. Getting an opportunity to work alongside Jimmy the past five and a half years in our WKYC Sports Department is something I will always cherish and forever be grateful for," he said. "In terms of going forward at WKYC, I am super excited to help carry on a tradition of excellence that has already been built in our sports department here and you can trust that we will continue to deliver the very latest in sports in a respected, fun and innovative way."
