A couple of Carolina Panthers greats returned to familiar ground on Monday.
This morning's session of training camp featured two very special guests—former three-time Pro Bowl tight end (and Emmy-Award winning broadcaster ) Greg Olsen and former five-time First-team All-Pro linebacker and 2013 NFL Defensive Player of the Year Luke Kuechly . . .
Kuechly, now a radio voice for the Panthers, previously spoke about the team's refreshing direction under new president of football operations/general manager Dan Morgan and first-year head coach Dave Canales.
"What I do know about Bryce and what I do know about Carolina is that we've got a common goal now," he said on the NFL Network back in Feburary. "Dan came in at the same time—obviously, we hired him as the GM. We hired Dave Canales at the same time. They spent a lot of time in Seattle together.
"There's a vision that these guys believe in. There's a vision of what they want to do. And Bryce has a guy that's—over the past couple of years , whether it's Geno [Smith], whether it's been Russ [Wilson], whether it was Baker [Mayfield] last year in Tampa—that he's gotten the most out of these guys."
And hey, with the tight end room piling up the injuries and starter Shaq Thompson still sidelined this summer, maybe Canales can get something out of Olsen and Kuechly, too . . .
