Pro Duck Jevon Holland to be a hot commodity in 2025 NFL free agency
The Super Bowl is set in the NFL between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles , but the other 30 teams in the league are preparing for the offseason and, namely, the start of free agency. Many top players across the league will hit the open market this March, one of which is former Oregon Ducks safety Jevon Holland .
Holland spent the first four seasons of his career with the Miami Dolphins and quickly became one of the best safeties in football. Selected with one of the first few picks in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft, Holland has outshined his initial expectations, earning first-team All-Pro honors in his second season.

On Wednesday, ESPN published a list ranking the 50 best free agents set to hit the open market this offseason and Holland was ranked at No. 11. Matt Bowen, the article's author, had this to say about Holland's upside.
"Holland has the multidimensional traits that pro coaches look for at safety. He can play from depth, cover in the slot or mix it up as a box defender. The splash plays were missing from Holland's tape this season, as he failed to record an interception. But he does have 5 interceptions, 16 pass breakups, 5 forced fumbles and 5 sacks over his four years with Miami." – Matt Bowen, ESPN football analyst
Bowen is correct that Holland had a down year when it came to the game-changing plays this season, which could hurt his value in the free agency market. Holland wrapped up his 2024 season with 62 tackles, two TFLs, a sack, four PBUs, and a forced fumble. It was a strong year but not on par with his All-Pro 2022 season when he grabbed 96 tackles, a TFL, 1.5 sacks, two picks, seven PBUs, and a forced fumble.
Holland's rookie contract had an average annual value (the average payout in each year of a player's contract) of $2,179,101, but his total cap hit over his four years in Miami ended up being $10,233,804 ($2,558,451 per year), according to OverTheCap. As one of the best safeties set to hit free agency — the top safety according to Bowen's list — Holland is sure to generate buzz for a larger, All-Pro level, contract. That could make it unlikely he stays with the Dolphins.
If Holland does choose to leave Miami, many teams will look his way. The Indianapolis Colts , Dallas Cowboys , and Cincinnati Bengals are all destinations to look at, as all three teams had major struggles in the secondary this season. Some playoff teams could be attractive for Holland as well, including the Baltimore Ravens , Denver Broncos , and Buffalo Bills .
