- Texas A&M OL Kam Dewberry to transfer to Alabama football. What it means for Crimson Tide
Alabama football has added a key piece to its offensive line ahead of the 2025 season.
Kam Dewberry, a former Texas A&M offensive lineman, is transferring to Alabama with one season of eligibility remaining.
The former four-star guard out of Humble, Texas, is the fifth player to transfer to Alabama ahead of the 2025 season, joining former Cal long snapper David Bird , former Colorado School of Mines punter Blake Doud, former Florida defensive end Kelby Collins and former Utah cornerback Cameron Calhoun .
Dewberry started five of seven games as a freshman in 2022 and was named a freshman All-American by The Athletic.
His role grew in 2023 with 465 snaps, per Pro Football Focus, across 13 games primarily at left guard. He allowed two sacks, eight hurries and 11 pressures.
Dewberry's role decreased significantly in 2024, when he appeared in 11 games and logged 261 snaps. In those games, Dewberry allowed one sack, five hurries and six pressures, mostly at left guard.
Alabama and Dewberry are seemingly a perfect fit.
The Crimson Tide is likely set to lose its starting left guard Tyler Booker to the NFL draft, leaving a hole on its offensive line.
With Dewberry's arrival, Alabama seemingly has a potential starter at left guard, one who will likely compete for playing time with former Michigan State transfer Geno VanDeMark, who played both guard spots and center for Alabama in 2024.
