- Texas Tech basketball NCAA Tournament projections: Big Ten a favorite dance partner
Last week's loss against Texas shook up the Texas Tech basketball team's NCAA Tournament projections a bit heading into the final two games of the regular season.
Projecting NCAA Tournament seeds is always a fluid situation. Many of the top bracketologists are taking closer looks at teams' resumes before the end of the regular season and the Red Raiders are, like many other teams this season, a bit of a mixed bag.

The Red Raiders still can enhance their seed line. Considered mostly a lock to make the tournament, both from projections and from recent history, Texas Tech can plan for an NCAA Tournament appearance, but its matchup, region and location are all up in the air.
Bracket Matrix , a website that tracks all available projections, shows Texas Tech averaging a 7 seed in the 104 brackets survey, with the Red Raiders appearing in each.
LAST WEEK: Texas Tech basketball NCAA Tournament projections: Hoos up for the Red Raiders?
ESPN: 8 seed (East Region)
Joe Lunardi had some decent movement with the Red Raiders last week. In Friday morning's bracket, Lunardi had Texas Tech as a 7, though his updated workings posted on X, formerly Twitter, showed the Red Raiders as a 9. However, that drop wasn't reflected in his official bracket until Tuesday morning, when Lunardi had the Red Raiders as an 8, heading to Brooklyn to take on 9-seed Nebraska. The winner, most likely, would get reigning national champion UConn in the second round.

CBS Sports: 6 seed (West Region)
CBS Sports' Jerry Palm maintained Texas Tech's seed line and still has the Red Raiders as the 6 seed in the West Region. Palm has Tech taking on the winner of the First Four game between 11-seeds Utah and New Mexico. Interestingly, it would be either 3-seed Iowa State or 14-seed College of Charleston in the second round. This is possible because the Red Raiders and Cyclones didn't play each other twice in the regular season. It's unusual, though not impossible.
Fox Sports: 7 seed
The latest from Mike DeCourcy has the Red Raiders as the third-highest 7 seed in the field, behind Saint Mary's and Florida and ahead of Gonzaga. Possible matchups would include 10-seeds Nebraska, Boise State, TCU and New Mexico. DeCourcy did not include regions or potential matchups in his Monday projections.

Field of 68: 8 seed (East Region)
Another projection that has the Red Raiders as an 8 seed comes from the Field of 68 . The Red Raiders would be matched up with 9-seed Northwestern and the winner again taking on UConn in the second round.
