The Texas Tech football team added another offensive weapon through the transfer portal on Tuesday.
Terrance Carter , a tight end who previously played at Louisiana , announced his commitment to the Red Raiders through social media. Carter comes to Tech with two years of eligibility remaining.
Carter is ranked the No. 43 overall recruit in the transfer portal and the No. 4 tight end by On3. He was second on the Ragin' Cajuns in receiving for the 2024 season, grabbing 48 balls for 689 yards and four touchdowns in 2024. He collected 28 receptions for 255 yards and three scores as a redshirt freshman in 2023.
Carter fills an immediate need at tight end with Texas Tech losing seniors Jalin Conyers and Mason Tharp . He will pair nicely with returner Johncarlos Miller II, who had nine receptions for 126 yards and three touchdowns. Conyers has 25 catches for 271 yards and five TDs and Tharp 10 catches for 85 yards and one score heading into the Liberty Bowl.
This marks Texas Tech's 10th announced commitment out of the transfer portal. Earlier Tuesday, Tech received a pledge from former Wake Forest quarterback Mitch Griffis . His signing has been officially announced by Tech.
