Skill positions have been the early focus for the Texas Tech football team thus far, but the Red Raiders have now added to their defensive interior out of the transfer portal.
The Matador Club, Texas Tech's NIL collective, announced the addition of Northern Illinois transfer Skyler Gill-Howard on social media Saturday. Howard is a 6-foot-1, 285-pound defensive tackle with one season of eligibility remaining.
Gill- Howard began his career at Upper Iowa before heading to Northern Illinois for the past three seasons. He registered 52 tackles and eight tackles for a loss of yards, including five sacks this season for the Huskies.
The Milwaukee native was named third team all-MAC this season after serving as a backup in 2023 and not appearing in any games in 2022. Gill-Howard had four tackles in the Huskies' upset win over Notre Dame earlier this year.
