Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence bounced back in a big way from a scoreless first half on Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens -- scoreless in part due to two inexplicable mistakes he made with the Jaguars in scoring position.
Lawrence connected with wide receiver Jamal Agnew on the team's first possession of the third quarter for a 65-yard TD pass to cut the Ravens' lead to 10-7. Lawrence found Agnew, who was playing his first game in five weeks, uncovered down the right sideline and he faked out Ravens safety Geno Stone and sped untouched into the end zone.
Was that Trevor Lawrence 's longest TD pass?
The play was Lawrence's longest pass completion as an NFL player in three years. His previous was a 59-yard TD pass to Zay Jones last season at home against Dallas .
It was also Agnew's longest pass reception in the NFL, more than doubling his previous long of 29 yards against Miami on Oct. 17, 2021. Agnew's longest play from scrimmage was a 66-yard TD run against the Colts on Nov. 14, 2021.
Trevor Lawrence had two huge miscues in the second quarter
Lawrence personally botched two scoring opportunities in the first half, dropping the football at the Ravens' 19 while scrambling (no defender was near him) and he then failed to spike the ball to kill the clock with seconds winding down later in the second quarter.
Lawrence had completed a 36-yard pass to Jones to the Baltimore 5 but with no time outs left, he had to either spike the ball, throw it into the end zone, or throw to a receiver who had a chance to get out of bounds. He threw it to Parker Washington on the left side and Washington was kept from getting out of bounds by Marcus Williams and time ran out.
When was the last time the Jaguars were shut out in the first half?
The Jaguars were last blanked in the first half of a game on Dec. 12, 2021 at Tennessee , a 20-0 loss.
Their lowest-scoring first halves under coach Doug Pederson were six points twice last season against Houston and Detroit .
