Look out, record books.
Following Trevor Lawrence's contract extension, the Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback is now in position to achieve franchise passing records in multiple categories by a QB by the contract's end — assuming he remains in the starting lineup for the duration of the deal and avoids major injuries.
And after agreeing to a deal worth a reported $275 million over five years, the Jaguars are counting on the fourth-year quarterback from Clemson making many of these records his own.
Most franchise passing records currently belong to Mark Brunell , who quarterbacked the Jags from their 1995 expansion season until 2003. On his current trajectory, Lawrence has a chance to vault into first place by 2027 or 2028 in most categories — if his development continues as the Jaguars' front office projects.
Lawrence already leads the Jaguars with a 63.8 completion percentage, tops among Jags with more than 1,000 passes. David Garrard is second at 61.6 percent.
Trevor Lawrence's huge contract: What's the social media reaction to the deal for Jaguars QB?
Entering season four, Lawrence has started 50 of a possible 51 regular-season games for the Jaguars. He did not miss any playing time until incurring a variety of injuries during the 2023 season, finally sitting out the Jags' Week 17 game against the last-place Carolina Panthers.
