- Why Kalen DeBoer feels Alabama football should make College Football Playoff
Germie Bernard is not worried about Alabama football's place in the College Football Playoff.
After the Crimson Tide's 28-14 victory against Auburn in the Iron Bowl Saturday, the win was all Bernard was focused on.
"Whatever comes after that, comes after that," Bernard said.
Alabama running back Jam Miller was of the same mindset, saying, "it's all up to people that control everything behind (closed) doors" and that the Crimson Tide is taking time to enjoy its latest Iron Bowl win.
Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer took advantage of the opportunity, giving more of a pitch for the Crimson Tide to make the CFP that he ever has.
"Everyone's aware of our schedule I don't know the exact stats, but I know we beat four top-25 teams. And I don't know how many, if anybody's, done that," DeBoer said. "When you talk about the schedule, what it is week to week, it's just a grind. Having to come back every week, the only conference that really has to do that is ours. That's what I would say. And we won five of our last six. Playing physical football, I think we have continued to excel in that area. That's what the game is all about."
Despite losses to Vanderbilt, Tennessee and Oklahoma , DeBoer said Alabama "beat some high-quality teams," teams that remain in the hunt for the CFP.
Alabama came into Saturday as the top-ranked three-loss team in the CFP rankings, one with seemingly a shot to make the CFP.
And when quarterback Jalen Milroe was asked about that shot, that chance to play in the CFP, he first echoed Bernard and Miller, saying it's "not for us to decide what our future looks like."
Then Milroe took things a step further.
"We're a team that has won five of the last six games and showing just tremendous, tremendous grit and commitment level from everybody on the whole football team," Milroe said.
That is all Alabama can say. All the Crimson Tide can do is celebrate and wait to see what the CFP selection committee thinks.
