Nvidia RTX Pro 6000 With 96GB VRAM Is Only 10% Faster Than RTX 5090
The Nvidia RTX Pro 6000 is now readily available at its sky-high $8,000 list price, and that means professionals and enthusiasts have been able to take it for a spin. It's crazy powerful, like you might expect, but not dramatically more so than the RTX 5090 it's based on. At stock, it's around 10% faster in popular 3D rendering benchmarks, but it has a surprising amount of overclocking headroom, which can push it up to 15% faster.
Nvidia's RTX 5090 is the fastest consumer GPU in the world, eclipsing its 40-series predecessor by around 30%—and that's without dynamic upscaling or frame generation in use. But the RTX Pro 6000 is a professional version of the card, using almost the full GPU with more CUDA cores, RT cores, and Tensor cores, and three times the memory. That improves its already impressive general performance, but it's the AI training capabilities that this card is really pushing.

Despite that focus, though, the RTX Pro 6000 is still faster than the 5090 in gaming-like workloads; just not by that much. VideoCardz has some test results of the GPUs going head to head, and the RTX Pro 6000 managed 28,009 points in 3DMark Time Spy Extreme. That's 8% more than the RTX 5090 managed at 25,824. With the core overclocked by 350 MHz, and an added 2,000 MHz on the memory, the RTX Pro 6000 reached 30,0019 points.
But this card doesn't stop there. Chinese overclocker 普普通通Tony大叔 has used four of these cards and an AMD Ryzen Threadripper 7995WX to achieve a world record in Time Spy Extreme of 35,081 . That's not a huge increase for quadrupling the number of cards—at a combined cost of over $30,000—but it's a win nonetheless.

As impressive as these scores are, though, they likely wouldn't translate into real-world gaming performance. These cards use specialized drivers that lack the per-game optimizations Nvidia releases periodically for new titles. And even if they did, it's hard to imagine anyone spending almost three times the cost of a 5090 just to get a slight bump in gaming performance.
Even deep-pocketed gamers have their limits.
