Black Ops 6's Next Season Begins August 7th originally appeared on GameDaily .

Season 5 of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 drops August 7th at 9 a.m. PT, according to the in-game Battle Pass timer. It's not confirmed to be the final season, but it may as well be. Seasons typically run for 8 weeks, and the first look at Black Ops 7 is scheduled for August 19th at Gamescom. COD typically releases in October or November, so I expect a release date announcement that will coincide with the end of Season 5.

The main event is the new Zombies map, The Reckoning , set in Janus Towers. If you completed the Easter egg on Shattered Veil , you already know that players will team up with Richtofen to take on S.A.M. and wrap up the Dark Aether storyline. This was recently confirmed during an episode of the COD Pod, where Senior Communications Director Stephanie Snowden announced that Janus Towers will be the final Zombies map in Black Ops 6 . Some fans expected more DLC drops, but it sounds like Treyarch is deciding to focus on Black Ops 7 instead.

Multiplayer's getting some love too; new maps, modes, and a rumored return of Operator Sims as the Battle Pass headliner. Oh, and there's the crossover with I Know What You Did Last Summer to look forward to as well.

Finally, the Battle Pass will bring the M249 LMG to the game. Info leaked by dataminers says we might also get the MP-40, M60, APS underwater rifle, and even a chainsaw. Not exactly subtle, but very on brand for this era of COD.

If it works like the other seasons have, this season should run for eight weeks, with a mid-season update coming at the halfway point. With Zombies wrapping up and Black Ops 7 right around the corner, this is definitely one to show up for.
