Broomstick Exorcist Rides into the Night: Six One Indie Showcase Reveal

At the Six One Indie Showcase, Broomstick Exorcist emerged as a striking addition to the indie horror and action lineup. The game is being developed and published by Digital Happiness and promises a supernatural beat-'em-up infused with dark folklore and manga aesthetics. 

In Broomstick Exorcist, you play as Vikka, an insomniac street sweeper by day and demon hunter by night. Armed with her broomstick and occult skills, she ventures into the darkness to devour evil spirits and cleanse her city of haunting presences. The game is built in a hand-drawn, manga-inspired 2.5D world that leans heavily into monochromatic visuals with high contrast, giving it a stylized, noir-tinged feel. 

Combat in Broomstick Exorcist emphasizes combo chaining, supernatural upgrades, and adapting to waves of ghosts and demons drawn from Asian urban myths. Vikka has the ability to "Henshin!"—a transformation into her spirit self, sometimes called her Qareen, which boosts her power and changes her move set mid-battle. The design aims to balance agility, risk, and resource management—missing a beat or overextending can leave you exposed.

While there's no confirmed release date yet, the developers plan to feature a playable demo during Steam's Next Fest in October 2025. As Broomstick Exorcist continues development, it stands out as a dark, visually bold experiment in melding horror, manga art, and beat-'em-up mechanics. For fans of stylized action and supernatural themes, it's one of the titles from this year's showcase worth keeping on your wishlist.
