Dev Diaries show off some of Monster Hunter Stories 3’s gorgeous concept art
GHENT, WV (WVNS) – Some of us (me) are foaming at the mouth waiting for Monster Hunter Stories 3 to release.
There have been crumbs dropped to tantalize the masses. Some of those crumbs have come in the form of the gorgeous artwork dropped in the "dev diaries" series that have been posted online. So what does this entail? Let's take a look!
Get ready to fight in Monster Hunter Stories 3
The first Monster Hunter Stories 3 Dev Diaries post was a wall with a myriad of art pieces on it. It announced the sharing of the information to come while speaking about the artwork. The post stated in part quote, "The first photo we've got for you shows some of character concept art we've created, which covers an entire wall on the development floor!"

The second piece released shows Eleanor, Princess of Vermeil. She has offered herself as prisoner to help with strife between the two nations. The post tells us a bit more about the princess. It says, "Eleanor's a refreshing character with clear-cut emotions. She's also skilled at cooking, and the lighthearted animations she has during cooking scenes are a must-see!" The art also shows mockups for what seem to be more serious moments so it's likely we'll get to see many sides of Eleanor during the playthrough.
The third post is a mockup of the protagonist character, showcasing their range of emotions. This post tells us that the character speaks for themselves in the title, allowing for more rich emotions. Gauging by the range of emotions, we'll likely be getting some really charged scenes!
The next dev diaries is all about the player's palico companion – Rudy. Rudy is said to be overthinking things for the main character a lot. There is also a DLC story path that apparently is all about Rudy, so his story should be pretty rich going through the game.

Another entry shows art for what is said to be the protagonist's best friend – Simon. Simon is a messy-haired man with a beauty mark on his face. He's described as a "refreshingly handsome" character who is also very supportive. It'll be interesting to see how Simon plays a role in the story.
Thea is the next addition to the cast whose art was shared. She's a new ranger who apparently "uses her whole body to express emotions." This will be interesting to see the animation for in games since it is one of her descriptors. The diary post says to pay attention to her body language to gauge her emotions.
The vice-captain of the rangers is the next entry – Gaul. He, according to the post, cares deeply about plants. The post blatantly states that he has many sides. It'll be interesting if one of those sides involves him disagreeing with the protagonist, the captain of the rangers, in some instances.
TomoDachi Life: Living the Dream Direct announced
Ogden was also shown off in dev diary art . He's described as the squad's "energetic old man." He's a researcher who knows a lot about monsters, so likely a lot of our information about the environmental issues plaguing the monsters will come from him.

Kora's artwork was shared next . It shows off just how beautiful this character is. She, according to the post, is the longest serving member of the corps. The post blatantly says she has a sad past so likely there will be a big part of the story as it unfolds. Additionally, the post encourages gamers to pay attention to her hair because it took modelers a long time.
The last post we'll go over is the rathalos twins. This post showcases a large horn on the rathalos that shimmers. This will undoubtedly be story related.
More posts will likely be to come from the dev diaries, but what art has been your favorite thus far? For this author…it's Eleanor's art.
