Three months after its April 22 release, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered has proven to be quite successful. After years of rumors and whispers, the game was announced and launched on the same day on storefronts and on Xbox Game Pass, instantly becoming one of the best-selling games of 2025.

Now, we have a hint at just how successful this updated version of the 2006 open world RPG truly is. In a Bluesky post , publisher Bethesda announced that over nine million unique players have tried out Oblivion Remastered so far. Of course, that doesn't mean the game has sold nine million copies and doesn't account for the Game Pass factor, but there's no denying that, any way you cut it, nine million is an impressive number.

After a full decade of Skyrim re-releases across three PC, Switch, and no fewer than three generations of PlayStation consoles, it's nice to see Oblivion get the official redux treatment after all these years. While Morrowind and its port for the original Xbox helped bring more attention to The Elder Scrolls series, it was Oblivion and the power of the Xbox 360 generation of consoles that made the franchise into the mainstream juggernaut it is today, perfectly queuing up Fallout 3 and Skyrim for their mega-hit success.

Speaking of Fallout 3, I don't suppose it would be too much to ask for a remaster of that game, perhaps tied into the release of Fallout Season 2 on Amazon Prime Video? And maybe throw in New Vegas while you're at it. That would be great, Bethesda, thanks!
