GameSir G8 Plus Fortnite Edition Review

GameSir G8 Plus Fortnite Edition Review

The GameSir G8 Plus Fortnite Editiongives a controller I already liked a much brighter look. For fans of one of the most impactful games of all time, GameSir is giving you multiple options to represent that fandom. Here is my review.

Looking good

I received the Peely edition of a trio of new G8 Plus Fortnite designs. The Peely version combines yellow and blue with character artwork and Fortnite branding. The colors really pop, and the finish looks just as good in person as it does on the product page. It's a fun design that suits the game without making the controller look cheap or tacky.

There's also the pink Cuddle Team Leader version, while the Victory Royale edition offers a more subdued alternative. You can represent Fortnite loudly or a little less loudly, which I appreciate.

The magnetic faceplates remain a neat touch, giving access to interchangeable stick caps and face buttons. Everything I praised in the original G8 Plus review remains true and I'm happy to say that any durability concerns I had back in 2024 have been alleviated as that original controller is still going strong.

Familiar controls and bulkiness

I paired the G8 Plus with my iPhone 18 Pro Max, removing the case and playing Fortnite Zero Build – my older gamer reflexes can't handle building, I'm sorry! The phone sat securely between the grips, and pairing was straightforward.

Comfort remains a highlight. The substantial grips and full-sized controls give my hands space, much like the original G8+ I reviewed. The Hall Effect sticks feel smooth, and the buttons are comfortable to reach.

That more substantial bulkier size does come at a cost, however, as the controller plus the attached phone or tablet combine to make for a pretty chunky portable gaming device.

In-game advantage

I assigned a rear button to jump using the onboard controls, letting me keep my thumb on the aiming stick. Back buttons remain a must-have for me in shooters, especially for a game like Fortnite.

GameSir also lists support for Android, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, and PC, giving it uses beyond one phone.

The included Bully emote code is a welcome extra for collectors, though it's an existing Item Shop cosmetic rather than something exclusive to this controller.

Final Verdict

At $89.99, the GameSir G8 Plus Fortnite Edition is an appealing option for fans wanting comfortable mobile controls with some personality. The Peely design looks excellent, and the back buttons remain a highlight. It's bulky, and existing G8 Plus owners have little reason to upgrade for the controls, but the artwork makes this edition easy to like.

Positives and Negatives

  •  Colorful, well-executed Fortnite designs

  •  Comfortable grips and full-sized controls

  •  Hall Effect sticks and triggers

  •  Useful remappable rear buttons

  •  Included Fortnite emote code

  •  Bulky with a phone attached
