Ghost of Yotei Dev Not Shy With Feelings Over GTA 6 Delay
2025 was supposed to be the year we finally got Grand Theft Auto VI. In a perfect world, we should be playing it right now. Unfortunately for gamers, we now have to wait until May 2026.
However, that's not bad news for everybody. One of the biggest games coming out this year is Ghost of Yotei, which releases on October 2. Previously, they thought they'd have to be competing with GTA VI this fall.
Instead, Ghost of Yotei doesn't face nearly the same amount of competition. That's something that Sucker Punch director Nate Fox is still over the moon about.
"We're all still hungover," Fox told MinnMax. "Multi-month hangover. That was a great day."
While Ghost of Yotei likely would've been a success either way, GTA VI is such a huge deal that it's going to take a lot of the oxygen out of the gaming world for a while after its release. The developer clearly thinks they're about to make much more money now that they don't have to go against that behemoth of a game.
It'd be like if a new John Wick movie premiered on the same day as a new Avengers film. John Wick might do OK, but it's not going to do anything close to the Avengers. It's hard to imagine that hangover is going to go away if Ghost of Yotei is a huge hit.
