Kletka Turns A Living Elevator Into The Star Of Co Op Descent Horror

Kletka is a first person cooperative horror game where your only way forward is a living elevator that wants to eat you. Developed and published by Russian studio Callback together with ln404, it supports up to six players and has just left Early Access with a full 1.0 launch on PC and consoles on February 19, 2026.

In the world of Kletka, the most dangerous criminals are not executed or jailed for life. They are condemned to descend into a colossal non euclidean gigastructure, riding a semi organic freight elevator called Kletka that must be constantly fed to keep it from devouring them. Floors below are infested with traps, mutated creatures and an anomaly known as Samosbor, which stalks the corridors and punishes teams that move without caution.

Each run starts in the rusty cage of the elevator before the doors open onto a new floor. Players fan out to search for fuel, loot and victims while watching the timer on Kletka's hunger meter. If you fail to bring offerings back in time, the elevator may lash out and randomly consume one of the condemned inside, turning simple resource runs into tense debates over who is expendable.

Co-op survival inside a Russian gigahousing nightmare

Moment to moment, Kletka plays like a mix of co-op survival and immersive sim. Weapons and tools are makeshift, scavenged from industrial junk and brutalist apartments that echo Soviet era housing blocks. The developers openly describe the setting as a "Gigakhroushchevka" that stretches down into infinity, with procedurally generated floors that remix industrial basements, prison wings and collapsed housing into a surreal concrete labyrinth.

Teams communicate constantly to mark traps, locate key rooms and decide when to cut losses and return to the elevator. Death is not always the end. In certain modes, downed players can be revived if teammates collect bottles and spend them at resurrection machines scattered around the structure, but those detours always cost time and increase the risk that Kletka's hunger will spiral out of control.

On Steam, Kletka currently holds a Very Positive rating, with more than four thousand user reviews praising its unusual premise, oppressive sound design and how the living elevator forces uncomfortable sacrifices between friends. For horror fans who enjoy co-op tension, emergent chaos and strange architecture as much as jump scares, Kletka turns the simple act of pressing the elevator button into a desperate bet that you will manage to feed it before it decides to feed on you instead.
