‘The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time’ Remake May Be Hinting at a Possible ‘Majora’s Mask’ Remake

Nintendo Switch 2 owners are enjoying their time playing through the remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time . It's visually beautiful and has tons of updates that make the original experience even better on Nintendo's new console. But the game may also be hinting at another remake that has Zelda fans getting excited.

Many players started sharing screenshots from the game across X, which they believe to be hinting at a remake of The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask . Eagle-eyed players noticed lines of dialogue and design choices on characters that reference the sequel to Ocarina of Time . This includes the mask salesmen who appear in the town near Hyrule Castle, as well as the Skull Kid that appears in the Kokiri Woods.

When players talk to the Skull Kid, he has a very suspicious line that many are taking as a reference to the sequel. "I feel like my face is missing something. What would fix it, I wonder…" For those unfamiliar, the Skull Kid is the one who wears the infamous Majora's Mask that causes the events of the next game after Ocarina of Time .

However, that's not the only example players have brought up as evidence in favor of a Majora's Mask remake. When visiting the mask shop near Hyrule Castle, Link meets the Happy Mask Shopkeeper . But unlike every other shop, this shopkeeper has a very eerie aura to him.

But it's not the creepiness that has Nintendo fans talking, it's the overall design of the Happy Mask Shopkeeper. In the original version of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time , the same character has a specific look to him that was changed when he appeared in The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask . Specifically, he wears gold bracelets with his outfit in the sequel, which he is wearing in the new remake.

Why does this matter? Because nearly every aspect of the new remake is very faithful to the look and design of the original game. Every character you encounter in the game is exactly how they looked before, with the added layer of detail. Everyone except the Happy Mask Shopkeeper, and when combined with the creepy vibe he exudes when you meet him in-game, it seems like the darkness of Majora's Mask is already lurking.

Although nothing has been officially announced by Nintendo, it wouldn't be a surprise to anyone if they decided to look into remaking The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask . The reception to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on Nintendo Switch 2 has been very positive across the board.
