Mars can wait. The moon is closer , easier to reach and packed with resources that could help make a permanent human presence in space possible. For America, Amazon and Blue Origin founder Jeff Bezos sees getting there ahead of China as a priority, not a distant ambition.
"We have to beat China to the moon, and I believe we will beat China to the moon," Bezos told Fox News in October. "It's a very important thing to do."
Bezos said NASA is focused on the mission, while Blue Origin is working toward landing cargo on the lunar surface before eventually sending humans. He believes the United States can put astronauts on the moon in 2028.
"There's a lot of work to be done, but there's every reason to believe that we can put humans on the moon in 2028," Bezos said.

Bezos Wants A Lunar Base, Not Another Flag Planting
The goal extends beyond a brief visit. Bezos wants routine cargo deliveries to support a lunar base, creating the infrastructure for a sustained presence rather than another mission that plants a flag and heads home.
He has also argued that the moon should come before Mars. The journey takes about three days, and lunar missions do not face the same narrow launch windows associated with trips to more distant destinations.
"Look, it's not good to skip steps. In general, you don't want to skip steps," Bezos said. "We'll go to Mars and do other things. We need to go to the moon first. It's a gift."
The moon could also supply materials for future operations. Lunar soil contains silicon that could be used to manufacture solar cells, while oxygen and water could help support astronauts and potentially produce rocket propellant. Its lower gravity also means less energy is needed to lift material off the surface than from Earth.

A Different Approach To The Space Race
The Apollo program required an enormous financial commitment, with estimates placing U.S. spending on the effort near 3% of gross domestic product at its peak. Today's approach relies more heavily on commercial companies developing reusable rockets, landers and cargo systems intended to make space transportation more routine.
Blue Origin is developing its New Glenn heavy-lift rocket and lunar capabilities as part of that effort. Building a lasting presence will require reliable transportation, repeated cargo missions and infrastructure that can support operations over time.
The timeline remains ambitious, and reaching the moon by 2028 will depend on technical progress and successful missions. But Bezos believes commercial capabilities can help the United States accomplish more than a short return visit.

The Energy Infrastructure Behind American Ambitions
Space exploration depends on industrial capacity on Earth, too. Advanced manufacturing, data centers and other technology-intensive industries require dependable electricity, making energy infrastructure an increasingly important part of America's broader technology ambitions.
American PowerGen is a Houston-area developer working on early-stage natural-gas power projects across Texas. The company is raising capital through a Regulation Crowdfunding offering at $2.50 per share. Investors can review the offering at invest.americanpowergen.com.
The company reports a development pipeline of roughly 16 projects representing about 22 gigawatts of planned capacity. These projects remain in development, and the figures represent planned capacity rather than operating power plants.
Bezos' focus is on establishing an American presence on the moon before China does. His broader argument is that reaching that goal requires more than rockets. It takes the infrastructure, resources and commercial capabilities to keep the mission going long after the first landing.
Building Wealth Across More Than Just The Market
Building a resilient portfolio means thinking beyond a single asset or market trend. Economic cycles shift, sectors rise and fall, and no one investment performs well in every environment. That's why many investors look to diversify with platforms that provide access to real estate, fixed-income opportunities, precious metals, and even self-directed retirement accounts. By spreading exposure across multiple asset classes, it becomes easier to manage risk, capture steady returns, and create long-term wealth that isn't tied to the fortunes of just one company or industry.
EquityMultiple
For accredited investors looking beyond stocks and bonds, EquityMultiple provides access to vetted commercial real estate deals starting at $5,000 , with only ~5% of opportunities passing their due diligence process.
Arrived
Backed by Jeff Bezos, Arrived Homes makes real estate investing accessible with a low barrier to entry. Investors can buy fractional shares of single-family rentals and vacation homes starting with as little as $100 . This allows everyday investors to diversify into real estate, collect rental income, and build long-term wealth without needing to manage properties directly.
American PowerGen
As artificial intelligence drives a surge in electricity demand, reliable power generation is becoming a critical part of the technology ecosystem. American PowerGen is developing natural gas-fired power plants in Texas, a fast-growing market fueled by AI data centers, manufacturing expansion, and population growth. By advancing projects through permitting, fuel supply, and grid interconnection, the company is positioning itself to help meet rising energy needs while offering investors exposure to the infrastructure supporting the next wave of AI and industrial growth.
Bito
As AI coding tools take on more of the work traditionally done by developers, companies are facing new challenges around code quality, context and the rising cost of AI-powered development. Bito is building software designed to help AI coding agents better understand complex codebases while helping companies control AI development costs. Founded by former PubMatic executives, Bito has raised more than $10 million from institutional and individual investors and is now raising additional capital through a Wefunder offering, giving investors an opportunity to invest in a company targeting an emerging need within the rapidly expanding AI software market.
FarmTogether
Farmland has historically held its value through market volatility and delivered returns uncorrelated to stocks and bonds. For accredited investors, FarmTogether offers direct access to high-quality U.S. farmland starting at $15,000 — fully managed, with no landlord headaches.
