'Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls' Surprising Roster Size Quietly Revealed
It's been some time since we have gotten any new Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls news, even after two different closed betas. Now, we know how many characters will be in the game at launch, and it might be surprising for some people, especially with the game being a 4v4 fighter.
Listed on the official Steam page for the game, after a quiet behind-the-scenes update earlier today, we now know that Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls will launch with a total of 20 playable characters. More will be added as DLC down the line.
"Choose from an expanding roster of 20 iconic Marvel characters at launch, each rendered in a bold new anime-inspired art style and members of their own unique teams of equally impressive heroes and villains," reads the description on Steam.
So far, a total of eight characters have been revealed, all of whom were playable in the game's latest closed beta test: Storm, Star-Lord, Spider-Man, Ms. Marvel, Ghost Rider, Captain America, Doctor Doom, and Iron Man.
There are 12 total base roster spots remaining, and given the popularity of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and other games, like Marvel Rivals , it's almost impossible to predict who could show up.
It seems unlikely that some of the X-Men will show up, given that several of them appear in the background of the X-Mansion stage in-game, but they're probably not off the table for DLC.
We're also still missing Marvel icons like The Incredible Hulk and Wolverine. If the game takes the Marvel Rivals approach, we may see some unexpected characters, too.
Still, with the game being a 4v4 tag fighter, a base roster of 20 might appear a little on the slim side to some fans. Hopefully, there is a lot of DLC planned for this new fighter.
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is set to release sometime in 2026 for the PlayStation 5 and PC.
