Nvidia’s RTX 5070 Ti Is a Better Value Than the 5080, but That's Not Saying Much
Nvidia's RTX 5070 Ti goes on sale today, but the reviews telling us just how good it is dropped last night. The results paint a very lukewarm picture of the card, with around a 10% increase in performance over the 4070 Ti Super. If it can hold its recommended retail price it would work out as better value than the RTX 5080 and 5090, but that's a low bar and an unrealistic one— we all know these cards are going to sell out .
The Nvidia RTX 50-series launch was front-loaded with promise and hyperbole, and it's been on a general slide ever since. The 5090 and 5080 are powerful cards, but they might as well have never launched at all with stock levels so low. The RTX 5070 Ti is supposed to inject some more affordability into the pack, with its $750 recommended retail price. But it won't do much to uplift anyone who has a recent generation graphics card with performance like this.
At least a lot of reviewers received samples of this card, so we do have a broad swathe of opinions to tap into here. Eurogamer highlights that the card represents good value for money at its $750 price point, but doesn't expect it to hold and shows it barely beating the 7900XTX and falling short of the RTX 4080. PCMag echoed those thoughts , showcasing relatively strong improvements in ray tracing performance, but far less impact in more generally rasterized games.

GamersNexus doesn't mince words, calling on its viewers to "not buy" this card—claiming that Nvidia has basically re-launched the RTX 4080 for a third time, and that even if it does stay at MSRP, it's still not a great value.
TechPowerUp is slightly more favorable in its coverage but really leans on the idea that there just isn't any kind of alternative. It's not a great card, but it's better than your other options. It also suggested that these cards might be strong overclockers if you have one with a good cooler. HardwareUnboxed is in a similar camp, showcasing decent performance and relatively good value for money, if you can find the card at close to its original $750 price tag.
One lone voice does recommend the 5070 Ti in quite strong fashion: Eteknix . Giving the card its Gamers' Choice award, it suggested that it represents a strong uplift in performance for anyone on older RTX 20 or 30 hardware, with impressive multi frame generation capabilities. It does stress trying to find the card close to its suggested price though, and waiting if you can't.
If you're considering buying one of these cards, do remember not to get pulled into paying over the odds for it. Especially since the RX 9070 and 9070 XT from AMD are just around the corner.
