Resident Evil Requiem Receives Gameplay Showcase on Switch 2

The Resident Evil franchise has hit its stride again after a bit of a lull with Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6. Resident Evil 7: Biohazard was a strong return to form, and for my money, Resident Evil Village is the second-best game in the entire franchise behind Resident Evil 4.

The early signs are that Resident Evil Requiem will continue the trend of high-quality output. One big change for the franchise is that the new game will also be released on the Nintendo Switch 2.

While that would typically lead to a downgrade in quality, the Switch 2 is surprisingly powerful. At the Tokyo Game Show 2026, there was Switch 2 gameplay showcased for Resident Evil Requiem.

So far, the game looks to be running incredibly well, which shows that the Switch 2 can compete with the Steam Deck. According to Requiem producer Masato Kumazawa, Capcom didn't have a difficult time with the port.

"Although we have released ports of the games to Nintendo platforms over the years, as you said, this is a bit more all-in on being day one on Switch 2, and that's simply because when we got the Switch 2 hardware, we were surprised in a good way about how smooth the process was for us to bring the existing development version of the game to that platform," Kumazawa told VGC .
