Valve has rolled out a fresh redesign for the Steam Store to users of the Steam Client Beta on desktop. The update aims to make navigation of the various titles smoother and game discovery more intuitive.

The biggest change is the consolidation of the column of links on the left side and the blue navigation bar into a single, streamlined, and cohesive menu on top that's visible across more store pages.

Another change in the redesign is that the search bar now includes categories such as Popular Searches, Recently Viewed items, and options to search by categories, tags, and publishers. An Advanced Search function is also available for more specific filtering.

Steam's Discovery tools have also been upgraded. The new Browse tab now lets you filter titles by popularity, release date, prices, and discounts. The Recommendations tab compiles personalized game suggestions based on your history, purchases, playtime, and community trends, while also containing Steam's Discovery Queue. On top of this, the Categories & Tags tab is now filled with personalized suggestions, basing the displayed tags on the tags of games you actively play.

Valve emphasizes that this redesign is part of an ongoing and incremental set of updates based on user feedback. The work-in-progress UI update is under active testing.
