Super Mario Bros. Wonder’s Switch 2 Edition Brings Multiplayer Modes and Bellabel Park

Nintendo has just revealed a new version of Super Mario Bros. Wonder for the Switch 2 — titled Super Mario Bros. Wonder: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park — set to launch in Spring 2026. Alongside performance enhancements, this edition adds a fresh, multiplayer-focused hub area, new mini-games, and enhancements tailored for Switch 2's hardware. 

Bellabel Park: Multiplayer Chaos & Co-op Fun

The biggest addition is a new hub world called Bellabel Park. In this plaza, players can jump in and out of multiplayer minigames, either teaming up or competing. Nintendo showcased several included games:

• Phanto Tag, a tag-style game using Phanto (those floating mask-things from the Wonder levels) as part of the mechanic.

• A coin-collecting mode where players race to grab the most coins.

• A platform battle mode that feels inspired by Smash-style arena fights, with items and knock-offs.

• Co-op minigames like carrying a Bob-omb relay, or block placing/traversal challenges, and group timed jumps to raise platforms. 

These modes are aimed at multiplayer fun rather than extending the main campaign, adding social variety and local / co-op joy. 

Enhancements & Extras

Beyond new mini-games, this edition will include additional content and enhancements, though Nintendo hasn't yet specified exactly what all of them are. Some speculative observations: visually smoother performance, perhaps higher resolution or framerate (typical for "Switch 2 Edition" tags), and possibly more characters or stage tweaks. At the very least, the Koopalings are seen during the trailer.

For players who loved Wonder, the Switch 2 edition promises extra replayability and more social-centric content. Bellabel Park's minigames seem designed to let players hang out in the world, with less stress and more casual competition. That's a welcome shift, especially since the base game focused on single and co-op platforming.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder on Switch 2 with Meetup in Bellabel Park seems like a smart evolution — keeping the core platforming intact while placing more emphasis on multiplayer interaction and social modes. It's not a full sequel, but it does deliver meaningful new content, especially for groups of friends. If Nintendo nails the performance upgrades and delivers bells and whistles instead of just repackaging, this could be one of the stronger "Edition" upgrades in the Switch 2 lineup.
