IGN posted the Super Meat Boy 3D Official Gameplay Trailer to their YouTube channel yesterday. The trailer shows just under two minutes of gameplay featuring developer commentary on the collaboration with Team Meat, the team behind the original game, and the new moves coming to the 3D iteration of the game.

Taking a high-octane 2D platformer like Super Meat Boy and translating it to a 3D space is a big challenge. Super Meat Boy is known as an ultra-fast-paced, unforgiving, controller-shattering sidescroller. To help capture the flow and feel of the original title, Super Meat Boy 3D is adding horizontal wallrunning and an in-air dash. This should give players 360-degree freedom of movement, something the developers feel is necessary for them to achieve the same pace and flow of the 2010 title.

The commentator says that "most users" should be able to reach the final zone with some dedication, but warns that anyone looking to 100% the game is in for a serious challenge.

The game has no official release date, but is slated to come out sometime in early 2026. With GTA 6 releasing in May, most developers are looking to dodge the GTA 6 hype, so I'd expect to see Super Meat Boy 3D in March at the latest.
