Two Game Boy Titles Coming To Nintendo Switch Online

Two Game Boy Titles Coming To Nintendo Switch Online

Today, February 4, sees the release of two new games for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers. Well, maybe "new" isn't the right word, but you know what I mean. Nintendo Switch Online subscribers have access to a suite of games from a bunch of Nintendo consoles, including the NES, SNES, N64, Game Boy, Game Boy Advance, GameCube, and even the Sega Genesis.

The games being added for subscribers are a pair of Game Boy classics, Yoshi and Balloon Kid. They're curious additions to the library, since they kinda sorta already exist on the service. Yoshi on Game Boy is a port of the NES game of the same name, while Balloon Kid is a sequel to the NES classic, Balloon Fight. To its credit, Balloon Kid is a much different game from Balloon Fight, and feels like a proper sequel with more gameplay and visual variety.

It's cool that these games are being added to the Switch Online service, but they're not exactly headliners. It would be less annoying if Nintendo would open the faucet a little more. We're thirsty for games, but we're only getting a trickle of releases. C'mon, guys, remember hot summer days in The Bronx when the kids would open up the fire hydrants and play in the streets all day? Gimme the video game equivalent of that.

Nevertheless, if you're a Balloon Kid enthusiast and a fan of obscure, mascot-themed puzzle games, you're gonna have a good time with these games.
