Apple users are gearing up for the long-rumored announcement of the iPhone 17 that industry experts expect to come during Apple's "Awe Dropping" event on Tuesday, Sept. 9.
Last year, Apple introduced its iPhone 16 range as part of the "It's Glowtime" event on Sept. 9, with the new phones ready for pre-order later that week. New Apple Watches and updates to AirPods were among the other announcements made during last year's Apple event.
But industry experts have also long been reporting about a rumored iPhone 17 Air being unveiled during Tuesday's Apple event, a new and slimmer model of the iPhone.

Apple iPhone 17 release date: When could the new iPhone be released?
The announcement of the iPhone 17 series remains a rumor as of Monday. However, we can look back to when new iPhone ranges were announced in recent years and when they became available for purchase to give us clues as to when people could have a new iPhone in hand — assuming Apple plans to continue its recent precedent.
Apple unveiled the iPhone 16, the iPhone 16 Plus, the iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max on Sept. 9 last year. That same day, the Cupertino-based company announced that pre-orders were to begin the same week on Friday, Sept. 13. The iPhone 16 series was in stores on Friday, Sept. 20, less than two weeks after the announcement.
In 2023, people could pre-order the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max on Friday, Sept. 15. Apple announced that information just three days prior when it unveiled the then-latest range.
On Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2022, Apple introduced the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, the iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max. Pre-orders were scheduled to begin Friday, just two days after the phone were announced, according to Apple.
