Apple TV is the exclusive streaming home to some great shows and movies like F1: The Movie , Shrinking , Severance, and starting this year, a subscription also includes live sports like MLS, Formula One, and select MLB games at no extra cost. We also love that Apple TV is, as of now, completely ad-free (outside of those sporting events). But one of the biggest drawbacks to Apple TV is its limited catalog of content. It's one of the only streaming services out there without a streaming library of licensed shows and movies; this is one platform where you're choosing quality over quantity.

If you're looking to scale back on your streaming services, Apple allows customers to cancel subscriptions pretty easily, and we can help you figure out how to do that (or, if you just can't stop watching old episodes of Ted Lasso, we can tell you a few ways to cut your subscription costs so you're not paying full price).

How to cancel Apple TV

If you're trying to cancel Apple TV, first identify how you subscribed in the first place: directly through Apple, or through Prime Video or another third-party site.

If you subscribe to Apple TV directly through Apple, you can cancel directly here , but how to do so depends on the device you use. Depending on whether you use a Mac, PC, iPhone, Android, or other device, you'll be prompted to either log in to your account on the App Store and manage your subscriptions from there if you use an Apple device. Android, Windows, and other non-Apple users sign in to your account on the web at tv.apple.com . Once you sign in, cancel using the following instructions:

How to cancel Apple TV on iPhone or iPad

Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad
Tap your name.
Tap Subscriptions and then tap the Apple TV subscription.
Tap Cancel Subscription. You might need to scroll down to find the Cancel Subscription button. If there is no Cancel button or you see an expiration message in red text, that means the subscription is already canceled.

How to cancel Apple TV on a Mac

Open the App Store app.
Click your name. If you can't find your name, click Sign In.
Click Account Settings.
Scroll to Subscriptions, then click Manage.
Click the subscription.
Click Cancel Subscription. You might need to scroll down to find the Cancel Subscription button. If there is no Cancel button or you see an expiration message in red text, that subscription is already canceled.

How to cancel Apple TV on any browser

Go to tv.apple.com .
Choose Sign In at the top of the page.
Choose the account icon at the top of the page.
Choose Settings.
Scroll to Subscriptions and choose Manage.
From there, you should be able to find the Cancel Subscription option.

How to cancel Apple TV on Android

If you pay for Apple TV through Google Play, you can cancel your subscription only in the Apple TV app on your Android device (Follow the same Settings>Subscriptions>Manage>Cancel instructions as noted above), or cancel on the Google Play app.

How to cancel an Apple TV subscription on Windows billed by Apple

Go to account.apple.com .
Sign in with your Apple Account.
Click your name at the bottom of the sidebar, then choose View My Account.
Scroll to the Settings section. Next to Subscriptions, click Manage.
Find the subscription that you want to cancel, then click Edit.
Click Cancel Subscription. If there is no Cancel or Cancel Subscription button, the subscription is already canceled.

How to cancel Apple TV through Prime Video

If you've subscribed to Apple TV through Prime Video, you'll need to log in to your Amazon account and manage subscriptions there.

How to cancel Apple TV through a third party

T-Mobile and other third parties offer Apple TV plans at a discount. If you subscribe to Apple TV through your wireless carrier or another provider, contact your carrier or provider directly for support. You'll need to log in to your account to manage your add-ons or perks.

How to cancel a free trial of Apple TV

If you signed up for a free or discounted Apple TV trial and don't want to renew it, you'll need to cancel it at least 24 hours before the trial ends on your account page .

How to pause an Apple TV subscription

Many streaming services let customers pause their subscriptions, effectively putting a hold on their plan and prorating their payments so they can temporarily save a few bucks, then easily opt back in when they're ready. Apple's not one of these services. If you want to opt out of your Apple TV subscription, you'll have to cancel outright. If you decide to re-subscribe, you can just opt back in whenever you want.

Can I cancel Apple TV if I have Apple One?

An Apple One subscription includes up to six of Apple's services, including iCloud+, Apple Music, Apple TV, Apple Arcade, Apple Fitness, and Apple News, and subscriptions cost between $19.95 and $$37.95 per month depending on the plan you select. Unfortunately, the apps in an Apple One account can't be curated or prorated, so if you subscribe to Apple One, you'll get Apple TV. Because of how the apps are bundled, it's a significant savings over purchasing the apps individually.
