Bring the Camera | Packing Camera Gear for Bikepacking Is Worth It.

Bringing expensive camera gear on a multi-day bikepacking trip can feel scary, but the results could be worth the extra weight. That is proven in this wonderfully shot bikepacking trip in the Chilcotin Range. " Bring the Camera " is a tasty sip of sunshine, and even though we are barely into fall, it already has me dreaming of warmer, longer days that allow for more adventures like this one.

So if you're on the fence, remember: it's probably a good idea to bring the camera.

It's always surprising what mountain biking content I find inspiring, and lately, it's not the ultra-produced, high-speed shreddits and bike park riding that make me want to get out and ride. It's the soulful storytelling and adventures that show the sport's slower, more relatable side. Stuff like this makes me appreciate the many sides of this sport.

"4 friends. 3 days. 2 nights. A camera. Zero bike-packing experience. Memories forever."

"Been dreaming this trip up for a couple years after being sidelined with injuries, but the stars finally aligned and it was a go. We figured out the group, started planning the route, acquired gear and we were set. Once it came time to pack I was astonished how fast the weight adds up. Spent way too much time contemplating bringing the camera, it was a good amount of weight added in the pack, even with a barebones setup. However, the potential existential dread of not having it, and wanting it, seeped in. Now as I sit here typing this, boy am I glad I brought the camera.

Huge thanks to the homies for the continued stopping to get shots even when we were redlined every day. It is tough country out there, but worth every bit it."
