Aeromexico and Sacramento Airport Mark Key Milestones

Sacramento International Airport is the fourth-busiest airport in California, but it just reached two major milestones: unveiling a wave of highly anticipated local dining concepts in Terminal B and celebrating a longstanding international airline partnership. The dual developments highlight the airport's ongoing push to modernize the passenger experience and strengthen crucial international travel corridors for Northern California residents.

The airport has officially cut the ribbon on three new locally owned dining and retail brands. Operated by concessions partner High Flying Foods, the newly opened venues are part of a broader, multiyear redevelopment program designed to inject regional flavor into the terminal.

Cindy Nichol, director of airports for Sacramento County, emphasized the importance of reflecting the surrounding community within the transit hub.

"Our goal throughout this concessions program has been to create an airport experience that reflects the region we serve," Nichol said. "These businesses have earned loyal followings in our community, and their addition to SMF gives travelers more opportunities to experience the quality, creativity and entrepreneurial spirit that define Sacramento."

Terminal B Dining Expansion

The newly launched concepts bring distinct culinary staples directly to passengers waiting in Terminal B. The current expansion phase introduces the following popular regional brands:

• Temple Coffee Roasters:An internationally recognized specialty coffee company founded in Sacramento.

• Nixtaco:A nationally acclaimed dining concept specializing in authentic Mexican cuisine.

• Bawk!:A popular local restaurant known for its signature fried chicken dishes.

This localized approach aims to significantly boost the airport's overall food, beverage, and retail presence. When the entire redevelopment program is complete, the airport will have expanded its total concession offerings from 17 to 23 concepts, supporting approximately 540 jobs in the process.

International Route Anniversary

Alongside the terminal upgrades, the airport is celebrating 15 years of continuous service from Aeromexico. The international carrier first launched operations out of the Northern California hub in 2011, establishing a vital link to Mexico.

The airline currently operates seasonal nonstop flights between Sacramento and Guadalajara. The route remains one of the strongest international markets for the region, heavily utilized by travelers visiting family, conducting business, and maintaining cultural ties. The airport and the airline hosted a special gateside celebration on July 15 before the midnight departure to commemorate the milestone and thank the local community.

Mexico continues to serve as a cornerstone of the airport's international network. Through various airline partners, travelers currently have access to nonstop flights connecting Sacramento to Mexico City, Leon, Morelia, and Guadalajara.
