Armed intruder broke into ’90s rocker’s home after she sold her Tesla
Sheryl Crow wasn't afraid when she name-dropped Walmart for selling guns in her 1996 song "Love is a Good Thing," but she did recall a recent moment when she "really felt very afraid."
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee received praise and backlash when she posted an Instagram video in February of her selling her Tesla.
"My parents always said … you are who you hang out with," Crow wrote in the video's description. "There comes a time when you have to decide who you are willing to align with. So long Tesla."
As an extra kick in Elon Musk's face, the Grammy-winning singer donated money from selling the car to NPR, which Musk has threatened to defund .
Well, one person must have really been upset with Crow's sale, as the music icon recently told Variety that an armed intruder broke into her Nashville home after posting the video.
"A man got on my property, in my barn, who was armed," Crow, 63, told the outlet. "It doesn't feel safe when you're dealing with people who are so committed."
When asked if she would pull a similar stunt again, Crow replied, "I can't help it."
"I feel like I'm fighting for my kids. Also, that's the way I was raised," the singer told Variety. "There have been times when it hasn't really been fun, but I follow my Atticus Finch dad; I'm very similar to him if I see something that seems unfair, you know?"
Crow was one of the most popular mainstream rockers of the 1990s. With four top 10 hits and nine top 10 albums, Crow has sold more than 50 million albums worldwide.
Her biggest hits include "All I Wanna Do" (1994), "Strong Enough" (1994), "If It Makes You Happy" (1996), "Everyday Is a Winding Road" (1996), "Tomorrow Never Dies" (1997), "My Favorite Mistake" (1998), "Picture" (2002) and "Soak Up the Sun" (2002).
Crow has won nine Grammy Awards and was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2023. The prolific musician will perform at Boston Calling on Friday, May 23.
