Iconic punk band announces first new music in 12 years with new members

Legendary punk band Black Flag is in the process of recording new music for the first time in 12 years, the band announced Thursday .

Black Flag will now feature founding guitarist Greg Ginn, 70, vocalist Max Zanelly, bassist David Rodriguez and drummer Bryce Weston.

"The new lineup is already in the studio and the rehearsal space — writing, jamming, and bringing fresh energy," the band wrote in a Facebook post.

Black Flag promised in the post that it would share upcoming tour dates soon.

The punk band's most recent album — "What the..." — was released in 2013. The album was Black Flag's first in nearly 30 years.

The punk band formed in the 1970s in California. Black Flag recorded six studio albums between 1981 and 1986 and got famous for songs such as "Rise Above" and "Nervous Breakdown."

Ginn is the only member of the band to have remained a part of it since its inception. Over two dozen musicians have been members of Black Flag at different times.
