Rock legend joins major pop star for surprise performance at music festival
The Cure's Robert Smith joined Olivia Rodrigo for a surprise performance at Glastonbury Festival in England Sunday.
Rodrigo, who was headlining the festival for the first time, brought Smith out halfway through her set.
While introducing him to the crowd, the "Vampire" singer addressed the rocker as "perhaps the best songwriter to come out of England and a personal hero of mine."
The duo then played The Cure's hit songs "Friday I'm in Love" and "Just Like Heaven." The Cure has headlined Glastonbury in 1986, 1990, 1995 and 2019.
Smith wasn't the only artist to make a cameo at the music festival. Lorde made a surprise appearance on Friday, the same day her album "Virgin" was released.
In addition, Lily Allen joined Shy FX's set also on Sunday. The pair performed their 2018 collaboration "Roll The Dice" of the DJ's album "Raggamuffin SoundTape."
Allen, who later posted about her Glastonbury experience on Instagram , previously joined Rodrigo at the festival in 2022 .
