"It's the one in women's DNA, that's not what they are supposed to do" - Gilbert Arenas explains why women cheating is different than men
  • Gilbert Arenas, a former NBA star known for his scoring prowess, has made controversial comments about cheating and gender roles in relationships.

During his playing days, Gilbert Arenas was a picture-perfect prototype of the modern point guard. He was running the offense and getting buckets in his sleep, literally. Scoring came naturally for him, confidence was already there and for a (very) brief period in history, he looked like one of the most unstoppable guards in the league.

However, no matter how talented he was as a scorer and a shooter, his game, and truth be told, his personality, were never fully suited for winning on the biggest stage. A couple of serious off-court incidents, combined with injury problems that kept bugging him, cut his career short and robbed him of even having a real chance to chase that elusive championship ring.

Off the court, though, Arenas found himself with quite a career. He put his God-given charisma and outspoken personality on full display, becoming one of the most unfiltered and entertaining podcast voices in the modern NBA landscape.

Gil was once again without a filter

As his "No Chill Gil" moniker might suggest, it feels like every time Arenas opens his mouth, something headline-worthy comes out. This time was no different, as he treated fans to another dose of off-the-court "wisdom," touching on one of the most sensitive and controversial topics out there.

NBA players often go, or at least are viewed as, womanizers, building relationships wherever the league schedule takes them. Arenas, during his playing days, was no exception, and he has openly admitted he had his moments of unfaithfulness.

But when he was asked why men tend to be far more unforgiving when women cheat, the former Washington Wizards star put on his unfiltered hat and went straight to work.

"Because it's the one thing that, in the women's DNA, that's not what they are supposed to do,"  Gil  said , before elaborating further on his recent appearance on "Drop the Lo Podcast."

As expected, Arenas didn't sugarcoat anything. He leaned on what he framed as a biological argument, explaining why he believes cheating carries a completely different weight depending on which side it comes from. And while this is the kind of topic where picking sides is a minefield,  Arenas doubled down on his outlandish take by giving quite a vivid picture as to why it is the way it is.

"That's what we are told. I don't know,"  the retired scorer added.  "It is supposed to be, like, this is the diamond. No one's supposed to touch a diamond, but my fingerprints. So if you go up there and touch all on a diamond, then it's not a diamond to me anymore."

Arenas went where others wouldn'tdare

It seems that whenever Arenas speaks, drama isn't far behind. Whether it's his takes, his locker-room behavior stories or the way he delivers his opinions, one thing is certain: it's never boring with "Agent Zero."

From the time he famously finessed his ex-wife, Laura Govan, by  replacing a reported $400,000 engagement  ring with a $10,000 replica, to breaking down the unwritten rules of how NBA players navigate an extremely tricky dating world, Arenas has always lived the way he wanted to.

Circling back to his comments on cheating, one thing is undeniable: it's viewed as damaging no matter which direction it goes.  Still, Arenas once again managed to spark conversation by saying out loud what many wouldn't even consider going into. Whether someone from the women's side decides to respond remains to be seen, but Gil won't remain quiet for long after that.
