The Fantastic Four: First Steps, alongside Superman , marks something of a revival for the Silver Age of comics. Unlike Superman , though, First Steps not only borrows the cheery visuals of the Silver Age but actually takes place during the era. The high-flying story is set against the backdrop of the space race and the cultural changes of the 1960s (technically, the story takes place on a different Earth, which allows it to sidestep the pesky continuity concerns of fitting in the MCU).
As usual, the film's digital and physical release will feature behind-the-scenes content and deleted scenes. One deleted scene, shared exclusively with Rolling Stone , finds the eponymous heroes preparing for their appearance on the Ted Gilbert Show. The fictitious variety show draws clear inspiration from the Ed Sullivan Show (which famously hosted a different Fab Four ). You can check out the clip below.
Directed by Matt Shakman, The Fantastic Four: First Steps stars Pedro Pascal as Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as The Thing. Julia Garner also stars as Silver Surfer.

Despite being a cornerstone of Marvel Comics, the Fantastic Four have typically languished through poorly received adaptations until the release of First Steps . "To say that the version we get in Fantastic Four: First Steps is the best screen adaptation to date of the group… means that a low bar has been cleared, though the world-building around them is truly an achievement," wrote Rolling Stone film critic David Fear.
"Whether or not you're a die-hard, you'll walk away wowed by the ring-a-ding NYC they live in, the Kirby-esque cosmic environments they travel, and the way that director Matt Shakman and his collaborators channel the title's first five years' worth of issues with such uncanny fidelity."
Bonus content on the physical release includes five deleted scenes, a gag reel, and four featurettes, including audio commentary.
In addition to the standard release, there will be a SteelBook, as well as a Walmart-exclusive pop-up Blu-ray. You can check out the releases below.
