When it comes to high-impact workouts, the best sports bra can make a big difference. Whether you're running, jumping, doing HIIT or playing a high-impact sport, you need more than just comfort — you need serious, reliable support. I'm talking minimized bounce, ample structure and a stay-put fit without restriction so you can focus on your workout rather than adjusting your bra.

To find the best high-impact sports bras, we tested nearly 30 styles on 13 people with a range of body types, from petite to plus-size, and breast sizes ranging from 30B to 38DD. We surveyed them for feedback on support, comfort and performance to find the high-intensity bras that won't let you down. Based on findings from 1,189 answers collected from our tester surveys, these are the ones that give you the support you need for your most intense workouts.

Best high-impact sports bras of 2026

Sizes:32B-44G | Material:71% polyamide, 29% elastane | Colors:40 | Support level:High | Support type:Encapsulation

Why we love it: This is the bra to beat. Our highest-scorer in recent tests, testers and experts were floored by the high-impact support, budget-friendly price and vast sizing options. The lightweight, sweat-wicking material is made of a structured foam, adjustable straps and a three-row hook-and-eye closure on a wide, supportive band for serious support without the discomfort of an underwire. Its sub-$50 price feels like a steal.

What our testers say: "Probably the best sports bra I've ever worn," said Yahoo Content Operations Manager Amanda Rickert , who gave this bra a perfect 5/5 in every category. I have to agree: The fabric is structured and thick with laser-cut edges that don't squeeze unflatteringly or uncomfortably. There's no extraneous padding, but the foamy fabric prevents show-through. Testers unanimously raved about the high-quality feel, the security of the band and the overall support. "The molding really keeps them in place without making them feel overly squished," said Rickert. "I'm genuinely flabbergasted. I did not know sports bras could feel like this."

Keep in mind: I wish the straps could be adjusted more tightly if needed. I wear mine at the very tightest option and I'd like to be able to extend the life of the bra once the elastic starts to give with extended wear and washing. I also found I needed to size down one cup size from my typical size, but my regular band measurement fit perfectly.

Pros
  • Top scores from testers
  • Molded cups offer separation and lift
  • Secure fit with adjustable features
  • Lightweight, sweat-wicking material
Cons
  • Straps may not be tight enough for some

Sizes:32B-42DDD | Material:59% nylon, 41% elastane | Color:1 | Support level:High | Support type:Encapsulation

Why we love it: For high-impact movement during workouts like running, this scoopneck sports bra is the pick. With an overall score of 4.4/5, I found this one to have among the highest-quality fabrics I've tried. Not only is it highly supportive with an encapsulating hold, but it also wicks sweat and dries the fastest.

What our testers say: A tight, supportive band is crucial for high support, and this one had the best fit and the most performance-focused features. I gave it 5s for durability, comfort and mobility. The versatility is unmatched too. Although it offers high-impact support, the lower neck and daintier-than-usual straps parlay well into Pilates and even wear under clothes, since the encapsulation creates a nice, rounded shape.

Keep in mind: It didn't get the greatest score for fit. I found the cups fit a little large, and their shape was excessively rounded. I'd recommend going one cup size down, just to be safe.

Pros
  • Supportive, well-fitting band
  • Excellent sweat-wicking material
  • Versatile style
Cons
  • Cups run a little big

Sizes:XS-XL| Material:75% recycled polyester, 25% Lycra | Colors:2 | Support level:Medium | Support type:Compression

Why we love it:If you're not into padded cups and heavy-duty adjustable straps, this bra was favored by testers who self-described as having "a slimmer build and prefer a minimalist design." They swore it's comfortable without feeling restrictive or overly technical.

What our testers say: "As a smaller-chested runner, I tend to favor simple, no-fuss sports bras ," said health writer Emilia Benton . "This one hits that sweet spot [of] compression, no padding and nothing extra. The open racerback design feels modern and breathable, while the high neckline adds a bit of extra coverage and added sun protection on the run."

Keep in mind:A compression-only sports bra with medium support likely won't offer enough hold for anyone above a B-cup. While someone with smaller breasts might love it for the same reason, the lack of adjustable features and structure might pale for others.

Pros
  • Sleek, simple, padding-free design
  • Compressive, streamlined fit
  • High neckline provides added coverage
Cons
  • Some may need more support

Sizes:32B-40D | Material:78% recycled nylon, 22% elastane | Colors:4 | Support level:High | Support type:Encapsulation

Why we love it: This is the bra I've been wearing and repurchasing for years. It hits all the must-haves for large-chested people: A high neckline, wide and supportive straps and a tight-fitting underband with bra sizing that won't budge, but doesn't dig in. It feels practically bomb-proof once it's on.

What our testers say: This is probably the most secure sports bra I own and the one I grade other bras against. It's the one I reach for for my most intense workouts when I'm going to be pouring sweat and hopping around. It keeps everything securely in place and the quick-drying fabric doesn't hold on to moisture. The encapsulation holds me securely up and in so effectively that the shorter-than-usual band works perfectly, and I swear that it mitigates boob sweat.

Keep in mind:If you struggle with fastening a bra behind your back, this might prove tricky for you. Sometimes, the effort it takes to put it on is enough to keep me from working out at all. It can also border on feeling too tight, but for me, that snug fit is what helps it feel as bounce-free as possible without doubling up.

Pros
  • Extremely strong hold
  • Secure band and multi-strap design add support
  • Sweat-wicking, quick-drying fabric
Cons
  • Can be difficult to put on

Sizes:32C-40F | Material:80% polyester, 20% spandex | Colors:7 | Support level:High | Support type:Encapsulation

Why we love it: Another bra with perfect 5s across the board, this is the brand's highest-support offering. Designed specifically for fuller busts, one DD-cup tester said, "the compression was perfect." The innovative design offers adjustability in the straps and band with a hook-and-eye closure, and thoughtful details like a high-neck clip make getting in and out easier.

What our testers say: "It fit perfectly," raved one tester. She loved that "it offered great support for bigger chests while still giving seamless shaping." She added, "it made my boobs have great shape, plenty of coverage and minimized jostling." The padded shoulder straps and molded cups made the bra feel "very comfortable, both for activities and everyday wear."

Keep in mind:This style is only available in cup sizes C to F, so it won't work for smaller-chested folks. The sizing can be confusing too; "the tag and sizing was in AU, which normally I wouldn't know how to order, but the size I got fit me perfectly."

Pros
  • Comfortable and highly-adjustable padded straps
  • Excellent support for fuller busts
  • Molded cups provide good coverage and shaping
  • Minimizes bounce during high-impact activity
Cons
  • Sizing can be tricky

Sizes:XXS-3X | Material:80% nylon, 20% spandex | Colors:12 | Support level:Medium-high | Support type:Encapsulation

Why we love it: A bra that strikes a balance between stretchy softness and serious support, this hook-and-eye-closure bra from Popflex is great for medium-impact workouts and goes up to size 3X, making it one of the best plus-size sports bras out there. With a perfect 5/5 score for fit and comfort, testers loved the buttery, slightly cushioned fabric that fits comfortably and prevents show-through.

What our testers say:"It's very secure and my boobs are not going anywhere," said Oh. "Up, down, side to side, none of that. It's a full-coverage bra with zero cleavage." I love the thick underband, though I wish it were a bit tighter a fit. With a 4.4 score in support and durability, it's not the most compressive bra in the lot, but the medium-impact support is great for low- to mid-intensity movement.

Keep in mind: The full-coverage style was divisive. While larger-cupped testers appreciated the support, some smaller-chested testers found it too much. "It has such a high neck and looks a little frumpy," said Oh. "It's too much coverage for me — you can't wear it under certain things." It's also not the best at wicking sweat, scoring only 3/5 in the category, and the larger sizes often sell out quickly.

Pros
  • Stretchy-soft, slightly lined fabric
  • Hook-and-eye closure and adjustable straps for a tailored fit
  • Perfect score for comfort
Cons
  • Not the most supportive or quick-drying option

Outdoor Voices/Jessica Teich/Yahoo

Sizes:XXS-3X | Material:72% nylon, 17% Lycra, 11% polyester | Colors:8 | Support level:Medium | Support type:Compression

Why we love it: This is a classic pull-on racerback style with boosted features, like a wide underband, mesh backing and a cute keyhole detail at the back. Its easy-on and -off wearability lands it on this list for anyone with smaller cup sizes.

What our testers say: "I felt very supported in this bra," said Senior Operations Manager Annie Villacis, who wore it while lifting, cycling and running and gave it perfect 5s for support, durability and satisfaction. "The band itself was very strong, and the material felt breathable throughout wear. It also fit really well overall for my size and felt secure the entire time."

Keep in mind:"The one downside is that it does create a bit of a uni-boob look," said Villacis. While testers with standard sizing, like 34C, loved this bra, others with small-band and large-cup combos were less enamored. "The sizing is off," said one 32DDD tester. "The medium swims on me and the small digs in."

Pros
  • Easy-on and -off pull-on style
  • Breathable mesh backing
  • High durability score
Cons
  • Compression style isn't best for larger cup sizes

How we test sports bras

You can learn more about how we test sports bras here, but in short, our testers have a range of body types, from petite to plus-size, and breast sizes ranging from 30B to 38DD. Their preferences are just as diverse. Our most recent test spanned nearly 30 bras tested by 13 people ages 25 to 44. Of the winning styles selected from 1,189 answers collected in our tester surveys, I further eliminated low- and medium-support picks, focusing only on bras with a compression rating of 4/5 or higher.

What to consider when shopping for high-impact sports bras

Support type

  • Encapsulation:This style features molded cups that separate each breast and prevent excessive movement. It tends to be best for high-impact exercise, particularly for larger-cupped folks. Encapsulation gives a more rounded, lifted appearance while providing excellent control. The downside is that hook-and-eye closures can be tricky to fasten, and encapsulation bras can be pricier.

  • Compression:The style of a more classic pull-on sports bra, compression bras rely on fabric elasticity and a strong hold to keep the breasts in place. This style is better suited for smaller-chested folks and/or lower-impact exercise. While this style is easier to put on and take off and tends to be more budget-friendly, it can give that squashed, uniboob look and may not provide enough support for some larger cup sizes.

Material

Buttery-soft, yoga-friendly materials won't do here. To withstand significant movement, look for structured materials with high elasticity, but not too much give. You shouldn't be able to stretch the fabric too much, and even less so the band. Nylon-elastane blends give a great combination of strength, stretch and recovery. Molded cups also help.

Band

Just like a regular bra, much of a sports bra's support comes from its band, so it should fit securely. Compression bras generally benefit from wider, more substantial bands, while encapsulation bras can offer plenty of support with slimmer bands since the cups help do some of the work.

Hook-and-eye closures are great for providing a more tailored fit, especially on larger bust sizes, but they can prove tricky to fasten behind your back. "It's also kind of difficult to complete the three hook-and-eye clasps behind your back," said Oh of one bra she tested, and I have struggled with these styles too. The trade-off, though, is excellent support.

Straps

Shoulder straps should be wide and strong enough to support intense movement without digging into your shoulders. Flimsier straps may dig into your shoulders or provide less support. Adjustable straps provide added security and a more tailored fit across different body types too.
