For the final day of its holiday special, NBC will air the 1966 original Grinch movie on Christmas Day.
While some look forward to "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer," "Frosty the Snowman," and stories of Santa, others wait all year for the opportunity to watch the story of the Grinch .
The beloved grumpy green creature was first introduced to the world in a 1957 children's book by Dr. Seuss, and has since inspired three movies and countless cameos every holiday season.

How many movies of 'The Grinch' are there?
There are three Grinch films, all based on the 1957 children's book "How the Grinch Stole Christmas!" by Dr. Seuss. Two of the films are animated and one is a live-action movie starring Jim Carrey as the Grinch.

Where to stream 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas!' 1966
The first Grinch film was a 1966 made-for-TV movie. The Grinch, a green creature with a heart "two sizes too small," lives in a cave on Mount Crumpit, near Whoville, and hates Christmas. On Christmas Eve, he disguises himself as Santa Claus and, with help from his dog Max, attempts to stop Christmas Day from coming by stealing all of the Whos' presents, decorations and food, but is unsuccessful in deterring the spirit of the residents of Whoville.

Where to watch 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas' 2000
The second Grinch film, released in 2000, follows Cindy Lou Who as she tries unsuccessfully to integrate the Grinch into the Whoville holiday festivities. The Grinch steals all of the Christmas trappings, but Cindy Lou Who helps the town realize they don't need them to celebrate the holiday. This helps the Grinch learn the true meaning of Christmas.

When can I watch 'The Grinch' on TV?
The 1966 original "How the Grinch Stole Christmas!" will air on Christmas Day as part of NBC's Christmas movie schedule , which began Dec. 5 with " Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer ." The Grinch classic begins at 8 p.m. CT on Thursday, Dec. 25.
Who sings the Grinch song?
The story beyond the Christmas classic "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch" has several layers. Dr. Seuss, whose real name was Theodor Seuss Geisel, wrote the lyrics to the song while German-American musician Albert Hague wrote the music, according to American Songwriter .
Despite what some initially believed, Grinch voice actor Boris Karloff didn't actually perform the song. It was sung by American actor Thurl Arthur Ravenscroft, a longtime Disney employee who wasn't credited until decades later. You might recognize his bass voice from Frosted Flakes' Tony the Tiger, which Ravenscroft voiced for 50 years.
Is the Grinch Happy Meal still at McDonald's?

At the start of December, McDonald's collaborated with Dr. Seuss Enterprises to offer a limited-time Grinch-themed meal at participating U.S. locations. The mischievous menu included Dill Pickle "Grinch Salt" McShaker Fries for the first-ever appearance in the country.
Limited-time, indeed.
Just nine days after launching the Grinch meal, McDonald's had a devastating update for fans: the iconic Grinch items sold out. The Grinch himself hijacked the fast food giant's social media to break the news -- and tease fans about the possibility of the meal's return.
"Okay, I know you're obsessed with me and my meal, but I'm bored with this holiday stuff now. So you can have your little McDonald's account back," the Grinch said in a video posted to the official McDonald's Instagram page. "And maybe I'll be back, maybe I won't. I'll keep you on your toes. Smell ya later!"
