Tamar Braxton has revealed a terrifying health scare in which the 48-year-old singer nearly lost her life.

Braxton wrote on her Instagram story Tuesday that she had a near-death experience.

"I struggled to write this but everyone keeps calling me and honestly, I can't even really talk anymore I'm so weak," Braxton wrote.

"I almost died Sunday. I was found in a pool of blood from my friend with a face injury," the singer continued. "As the days go by the worse it is."

While she's unsure of how it happened, Braxton revealed that she fractured her nose and lost some teeth and mobility.

"The way I look at life now is totally different," she wrote. "As my health is on the mend my mental journey begins."

Braxton's career started in 1990 when she formed the R&B singing group, The Braxtons, along with her sisters Toni, Traci, Towanda and Trina. The group released one album, "So Many Ways" in 1996 before disbanding shortly after.

Braxton released her debut self-titled album in 2000, but did not achieve major success until her sophomore album, "Love and War" dropped in 2013. The album peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart and contained the popular songs "Love and War," "The One" and "All the Way Home."

Braxton released later released her fourth and fifth albums — Calling All Lovers in 2015 and Bluebird of Happiness in 2017 — as well as a Christmas album in 2013.

In addition to her music career, Braxton has made dozens of television appearances. She starred in "Braxton Family Values" alongside her mother and sisters from 2011 to 2020 and served as a co-host on "The Real" from 2013 to 2016. Braxton also won the second season of "Celebrity Big Brother" in 2019.

Her accolades include a BET Award, three Soul Train Music Awards as well as Emmy and Grammy nominations.

Last year, Braxton teamed with her sisters on the WEtv reality series, "The Braxtons." The show was a way to honor her sister Traci, who died in 2022 from esophageal cancer.
