Hershey's is synonymous with chocolate, so it's no surprise Krispy Kreme chose Pennsylvania-based company as its special partner this World Chocolate Day .

Loyal customers who frequent the doughnut shop know that every year, it returns a "rare" menu item in honor of the worldwide celebration. This year, it's bringing back the simple, yet oh-so-special treat with an even sweeter recipe update.

Yep, for the first time in a full year–and for the first time ever– Krispy Kreme's Chocolate Glazed Doughnuts are making a comeback, this time, though, the company is dressing it up with Hershey's chocolate.

"Krispy Kreme fans always anticipate we'll return our Chocolate Glazed doughnuts on World Chocolate Day, so this year we're making it extra special and extra chocolatey by adding HERSHEY'S to the glaze for the first time," said Dave Skena, chief growth officer at Krispy Kreme, in a statement. "It's amazing, but only for one day. So, don't miss out on this."

The Hershey's glazed Krispy Kreme doughnuts are available only on World Chocolate Day (Monday, July 7) at participating Krispy Kremeshops throughout the U.S., in-store and online for pickup or delivery while supplies last.

To take the celebrations a step further, the fan-favorite doughnut chain is offering 50 percent off a dozen Chocolate Glazed doughnuts with the purchase of any dozen at regular price, but only on World Chocolate Day.
