Massachusetts’ state groundhog, Ms. G, makes prediction for rest of winter
When it comes to winter weather, Massachusetts' state groundhog, Ms. G, gets it right roughly two-thirds of the time.
As the story goes, if a groundhog sees their shadow on the morning of Feb. 2, it means there will be six more weeks of winter. If they don't, then spring is set to arrive early. Since 2008, Ms. G's prediction has been right 64% of the time .
This year, Ms. G thinks winter is here to stay.
On Monday morning, the groundhog saw her shadow. Her prediction lines up with her Pennsylvania counterpart, Punxsutawney Phil , who also saw his shadow on Monday.
Ms. G has a far more accurate track record than Phil, who sits at just 35% .
Ms. G lives at the Massachusetts Audubon Society's Drumlin Farm Wildlife Sanctuary in Lincoln. The Audubon recently dubbed her " your favorite groundhog's favorite groundhog. "
