One of the most haunted houses in Massachusetts is now on sale
An infamous haunted house in Massachusetts could be yours — for $1.2 million.
The S.K. Pierce Mansion at 4 West Broadway in Gardner is officially on the market for just over a million dollars, its listing states .
The seven-bed, three-and-a-half bath Victorian home, built in 1875, spans three full floors "of historic grandeur and chilling intrigue."
The house has been cited as the second most haunted house in Massachusetts and the ninth most haunted house in the country, according to the mansion's website . It has famously been explored on TV shows like "Ghost Hunters," "Ghost Adventure" and "My Ghost Story."
Sylvester K. Pierce was a wealthy businessman whose successful furniture company helped establish Gardner as "Chair City" during the Industrial Revolution, MassLive previously reported . Pierce and his two wives, three sons and many staff members are among many spirits that paranormal investigators believe still reside in the home.
Some notable locations in the mansion include the "red room" on the second floor where Pierce's first wife died just weeks after moving in. Another spot filled with haunting energy is the second-floor bedroom in which Finnish immigrant Eino Saari burned to death in 1963.
