2 Springfield men sentenced after pleading guilty to gun charges in Vt. case
BURLINGTON, Vt. — A federal judge sentenced two Springfield, Massachusetts, men to five years in prison after they pleaded guilty to firearms charges stemming from what prosecutors say was a conspiracy to distribute cocaine in central Vermont.
Judge Christina Reiss sentenced Geison Reynoso, 27, on Monday, a pronouncement that came weeks after she sentenced his partner, Davon Lee, 26, in mid-October.
The judge also imposed three years of supervised release for the two men and ordered the forfeiture of five handguns and more than $17,000.
The two men previously pleaded guilty to possessing firearms in furtherance of drug trafficking and of conspiring to traffic controlled substances, according to a statement from the U.S. Attorney's Office for Vermont.
Prosecutors said the two conspired to distribute cocaine in Rutland County, starting sometime in 2023 up until their arrests in April 2024. A search of their vehicle during a traffic stop turned up cash, "a large quantity of controlled substances" and three guns.
Their arrests came weeks after law enforcement officials seized two backpacks that belonged to them that held cocaine, U.S. currency and two guns in February of that year, according to prosecutors.
