ALDI, Costco, Trader Joe’s closures affect holiday shopping — don’t go last minute
Several major retailers will be closed for the day in just a few weeks, meaning that shoppers will need to plan ahead and look elsewhere for any last-minute Thanksgiving supplies.
ALDI, Costco and Trader Joe's will not be open on Nov. 27 for the federal Thanksgiving holiday.
Costco closes its locations seven times during the year. In addition to Thanksgiving, the stores also close for New Year's Day, Easter Sunday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day and Christmas Day, according to Costco's website .
As for ALDI, the chain closes its locations on New Year's Day, Easter Sunday, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Limited hours are scheduled on Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. These special holiday hours vary by store location, ALDI's website explains.
Christmas Day, New Year's Day and Thanksgiving are the only days Trader Joe's closes for 24 hours.
The grocery store has reduced hours for New Year's Eve, Christmas Eve, Independence Day and Easter, according to Club Trader Joes .
Stores open on Thanksgiving
Those who need to run out for last-minute dinner items can find a few grocery stores that will remain open including Whole Foods , Kroger , Albertsons , Ralphs and Wegmans .
All of these stores will have modified hours on Thanksgiving varying by location.
In Massachusetts, however, grocery stores are not allowed to be open on Thanksgiving because it is a holiday under Massachusetts' " Blue Laws ."
This means that stores that may be open elsewhere, such as Whole Foods and Wegmans, will remain closed in Massachusetts.
