A pair of seafood restaurants in Boston is now down to one location.

The Pearl in South Bay officially closed for good on Sunday, Jan. 25, with Boston.com reporting that owner Mika Winder has decided to shift her focus to The Pearl's Boston Landing location in Brighton, which opened in February 2025.

"When you build something with purpose and authenticity, the people it's meant for show up," Winder said in a press release, per Boston.com. "I'm going to miss the community we built and the bonds we formed with our tight-knit neighborhood since we opened."

The Pearl previously announced that it would be leaving South Bay in an Instagram post on Jan. 22.

"Since we opened our doors in May of 2021, during a time when restaurants had no business opening their doors, we built a steadfast community," the post read.

"Fighting through tough times was a collaborative effort by you, our loyal guests, our front of house, and back of house teams that demonstrated unwavering commitment," it continued. "Such a commitment, solidified The Pearl as a premier Black-owned, seafood restaurant, in the heart of Boston, all while reinforcing our mission of being the neighborhood destination rooted in culture, connection and hospitality."

The post ended by encouraging patrons to visit The Pearl's Boston Landing location.

The Pearl became a hotspot for fresh and seasonal seafood, with the restaurant's signature dishes including char-grilled oysters, lobster rolls and seafood towers, Boston.com reported. Winder said the Boston Landing location will continue to serve most of the same items.

"We were grateful for the opportunity to operate two thriving restaurants after opening our Boston Landing location," Winder said, per Boston.com. "As we approach our one-year anniversary, we're looking forward to seeing those same familiar faces in Brighton and recreating the warmth, energy, and experience we first established in Dorchester."

The address for the now-closed The Pearl in South Bay was 20b District Ave., Dorchester. The Pearl at Boston Landing is located at 67 Guest St., Boston.
