GameStop says ‘bring whatever’ for Trade Anything Day
The video game retailer GameStop is offering a day for customers to "bring whatever" into the store for a trade-in and get store credit.
Known as "Trade Anything Day," the event will take place on Dec. 6, allowing customers to trade one item that fits in a 20-by-20-by-20-inch box for store credit, the company said via Instagram.
While the options seem fairly limitless, GameStop has provided a list of products that they are excluding from the trade-in:
-
Hazardous waste or material, chemicals, liquids
-
Lithium-ion batteries or items containing lithium-ion batteries
-
Weapons or ammo
-
Dead or live animals (Taxidermy items are valid)
-
Alcohol, tobacco, drugs or pharmaceutical items
-
Computers (excluding certain MacBooks accepted by GameStop)
-
Computer accessories less than 100 pounds, such as monitors, keyboards, keypads, mice, pointing devices and external hard drives (excluding those that are normally accepted by GameStop)
-
Small, outdated electronic equipment such as portable digital music players, VCRs and DVD players
-
Small-scale servers
-
Televisions
-
Gift cards and foreign or domestic currency
-
Jewelry
-
Sexual and explicit items
-
Items resembling body parts
GameStop employees can reject any item brought in for trade-in.
It is unclear how employees will determine the trade value of items brought in by customers but MassLive has reached out to GameStop for comment.
