Packages bound for Kay Jewelers stolen in Holyoke truck break-in

HOLYOKE — A thief made off with packages from a UPS trailer parked at a local distribution center, including one containing a wedding ring meant for a city woman, police said.

On Sept. 3, a United Parcel Service employee came to the police department to file a larceny report, Holyoke Police Chief Brian Keenan said.

Around 11:30 a.m., that day while parked in a loading dock, a suspect broke into the truck's trailer and left with several packages and some of those packages were meant for Kay Jewelers.

While Keenan said the department does not have the inventory of what was inside the packages, a woman has reached out to the police stating her wedding ring was inside one of those packages reported stolen, he said.

The case remains under investigation.
