On January 12 th , 2023, an interprofessional Flu & COVID-19 Vaccination Training Workshop was arranged in collaboration with Washington State University (WSU). In a joint venture students of College of Nursing and College of Pharmacy participated. The workshop involved talks by GMU and WSU experts, lectures and hands-on skill training in administration of flu and COVID-19 vaccine. Students were assessed with MCQ exam and practical exam for their knowledge and skills in administering vaccination.
Dean College of Pharmacy Prof. Sherief Khalifa commented: “Collaboration between GMU Colleges of Pharmacy and Nursing and WSU was very valuable as it brought together the different expertise and the sharing of complementary knowledge and skills with the ultimate goal to provide the best possible care for our patients. This collaboration was for sure a role model approach for our students to see first-hand the value of working together across different healthcare professions. Our immediate next step is a collaborative project to strengthen the advocacy and local capacity building in vaccination training for pharmacists”
